Welcome to Module 3 of your Online New Student Orientation. This module will cover Policies & Procedures at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Please review this and the other 2 modules to complete the New Student Orientation requirement. Basic Skills Policy

  • Requires all students to be enrolled in an English course and a Math course until the first college-level English and Math course are successfully completed
  • Developmental English and Math courses and Basic Skills required courses CANNOT be dropped

Credit Hour Rule

  • The law states that a resident undergraduate student whose attempted hours exceeds the number of hours required for completion of a degree program will be charged tuition at a higher rate.
  • You cannot exceed 30 credit hours past your degree program.

Six Drop Rule

  • Cannot drop more than 6 courses (after the census date) during your academic career. This applies to all coursework throughout your academic career including transfer work.

Three-Peat Rule

  • Students required to repeat a course three or more times are required to pay additional tuition in the class being repeated. Drops and withdrawals after the census date (12th class day for long terms) count as attempted hours toward this rule.

Grades

  • You must earn a C or better in all of your major coursework
  • You must earn a D or better in all of the Core Curriculum and any non-major coursework

Academic Probation/Suspension

  • Based upon cumulative GPA and reviewed every semester Cumulative GPA
  • Cumulative GPA
  • Academic Probation = Limitation of hours and requirements with Academic Advisor
  • On Academic Probation & Cumulative GPA
  • Academic Suspension = Requires student to sit out a full calendar year; can be appealed
