The Article, “Isolation”, the writer insists that it is harmful to isolate oneself from a society, community, or from an emotional standpoint. The article clearly explains how detrimental an isolated mind can be to a persons health. This proves my point.

The article talks about a social isolation. A social isolation is removing oneself from any physical or emotional relationships. A social isolation is harmful because it can cause abandonment issues, depression, and anxiety. Social isolations often happen when people are embarrassed or harassed by others.

Emotional isolation is caused by a person not opening up to the world around them. They close themselves up to protect their mental health, but damage it even more by doing so. The effects of emotional isolation are loneliness, depressions and anxiety. Emotional isolation is caused from mental damage or paranoia from others.

In conclusion I believe that Hester goes through a social isolation and emotional isolation. She goes through a social one because she is frightened of what others may turn her away for. She also goes through an emotional isolation due to the fact that she’s been mentally scarred by many people. These reasons all prove my essential question, that isolations CAN decrease mental health.
