In South Asia, an ever-increasing human population has led to many illegal encroachments in elephant habitat. Developments like roads and railway tracks also fragment habitat, Which cut off elephant migration routes running the risk of inbreeding.

HOW LONG
Asian elephants have been endangered since before 1989. They are likely to recover because of groups like World Wildlife Fund who have stepped up to make changes and have seen a great reaction. If more of society follows this lead the issue will be gone in no time.
