How to Safely Use Materials in the Art Room

Pencils

How to Sharpen Pencils

  • At the start of class, sharpen during Sketchbook Prompt
  • Sharpen and coloring pencils with handheld sharpeners
  • Sharpen regular #2 pencils and Ebony pencils with sharpener of your preference.

Charcoal

Charcoal RULES

  • Don't touch yourself
  • Don't touch anyone else
  • No drawing on anything except your art paper
  • One squirt of soap to wash hands
  • One paper towel to dry hands

Soft Pastels

  • Draw only on your artwork
  • Do not blow or wipe the dust away!
  • ALWAYS Wash your hands when finished using them - this is for safety too

  • If any pieces fall to the floor PLEASE Pick them up. They are a horrid mess to clean off the floor.
