The Rhinella Marina otherwise known as The Cane Toad came to Australia in 1935 as a way to control beetles in Queensland’s sugar cane crops

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT CANE TOAD

  • The cane toad uses Toxins to survive in the wild.
  • They eat beetles, honey bees, ants, cricket and pet food scraps.
  • they live in subtropical forests.
  • Also can be found in mangroves, rain forest, grasslands, woodlands and dunes.

It is the world's largest Toad.
The poison is in the parotoid gland.
Their skin is also toxic.

  • Remove any cane toad eggs you find by lifting them gently out of the water and placing the eggs in your compost bin, dig and put them underground, put them in the sun to dry out or place them in a sealable plastic bag to dispose in the bin.
