Cracker's previous owner had died in the war. Crackers new owner Rick, is a 17 year old in Basic training.
In order for Cracker and his new owner to be a good team they must have a good relationship.

Cracker and Rick go on a mission and in the middle of the night they get split up, and Rick returns
home from a serious wound.
With Rick knowing that Cracker is still out there looking for him brings him
great fear and sorrow.
