Immigration: The Department of Homeland Security estimates that there are 11.4 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S., with 59% coming from Mexico. We would like to introduce a bill that would build a large, brick wall between the U.S. and Mexico to keep illegal immigrants out.
Minimum Wage: Obama wants to increase the federal minimum wage from $7.25 in hour to $10.10 by 2016. With the raise of minimum wage, it will hurt small businesses and will consequently cause businesses to become understaffed because they cannot afford to pay a large number of workers. With The ASU administration we would like to keep minimum wage at $7.25 and support small businesses.
Gay Marriage: As of November 2014, 32 states have legalized gay marriage. A July poll by USA Today, found that 55% of Americans support same sex marriage. We would like to pass a federal law that will make same sex marriage legal in every state.
Legalization of Marijuana: In the state of Colorado, $3.5 million are brought in from marijuana tax revenue each month. If all 50 states legalize marijuana, a projected $3 billion will be gained in tax revenue each year. The ASU supports the legalization of marijuana because it will help boost The United States of America's economy, which will help to bring us out of debt.
Gun Control: An estimated 53 million people own a firearm in the U.S. while 67% say that they own a firearm for protection against crime. In 1992 a survey of male felons in 11 state prisons dispersed across the U.S. found that 69% of the inmates personally knew other criminals who have been "scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim." The protection of gun rights are necessary to keep The United States functioning well and keep the citizens at a calm state of mind.
We hope to see you at the polls during the next Election Day! Please support The ASU Administration and remember, "Jake and Bec will save America from becoming a wreck!"
