• Father was a mine inspector and metal worker
• Started piano at age 5

FIRST CAREERS

• Attended the Imperial school of Jurisprudence
• Worked for the ministry of justice for 4 years
• Gave private piano lessons at the St. Petersburg conservatory.

MUSICAL LIFE

• Created piano music at Moscow conservatory.
• His first official piece the voyevoda wasn't that good
• Kept trying and eventually made swan lake

END OF HIS LIFE

• 2 years before his death he created Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker.
• Diagnosed with cholera.
• He died on November 6 1893 in St. petersburg.
