PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The symbol of Saturn looks like an h with a cross.
I chose Saturn to be the planet that I study because it has interesting facts.
Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun.
In Roman mythology Saturn is the god of agriculture. Galileo Galilei was the discoverer of the planet Saturn.
Saturn is 1,429,400,000km from the Sun or approximately 888 million miles from the sun. The diameter of Saturn is 120,536 km.
Saturn is not solid like Earth, but is instead a giant gas planet. It is made up of 94% hydrogen, 6% helium and small amounts of methane and ammonia. Hydrogen and helium are what most stars are made of. It is thought that there might be a molten, rocky core about the size of Earth deep within Saturn.
Saturn has dozens of moons (33 discovered as of August, 2004). It has 18 named moons which are the Titan, Rhea, Iapetus, Dione, Tethys, Enceladus, Mimas, Hyperion, Phoebe, Janus, Epimetheus, Pandora, Prometheus, Helene, Telesto, Atlas, Calypso, and Pan. At least a dozen others have been noted (but not named yet). Saturn has smore than 30 rings. Saturn's bright rings are made of ice chunks (and some rocks) that range in size from the size of a fingernail to the size of a car. Although the rings are extremely wide (over 1 million km in diameter), they are very thin (about 0.6 miles = 1 km thick).
The length of Saturn's revolution is 10,759 days. The length of a year on Saturn is 29 Earth years. The length of a day on Saturn is ten hours and forty-two minutes.
Saturn's average temperature is -288°F.
On Saturn I would weigh 72.3 lbs.
Saturn is not inhabitable by humans because it is too cold, there is no oxygen, there are no plants, and there is no water.
One of Saturn's moons has an ocean on it. The moon is called Titan, which is the largest moon.
