JOBS AND ROLES

  • Some jobs of the USO in World War 2 included:
  • Serving food and drinks to soldiers
  • Assembled packages for soldiers
  • Packed boxes for light stations and outposts
  • Entertain soldiers on the front line to keep morale up.

CHALLENGES/OBSTACLES OF THE USO

  • Everything that people in the USO did was without funding from the government
  • The entertainers had to perform at the base camps, and in danger of shelling
  • They worked almost tirelessly in factories daily.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS/IMPACTS

  • They established lasting canteens overseas
  • They were able to comfort the troops with their care packages
  • They raised around $16 million under the leadership of Thomas Dewey
