Why do I like this poem?

I like this poem because I think it's really interesting how he talked about the puzzle piece, and how he put so much thought into all the possibility's of what it could be.

How does the poem speak to me?

I think the poem speaks about much more than just a puzzle, but I think it speaks about people. The poem talks about a puzzle piece that's by itself and how it could be anything, like a blue button on a woman's coat or a magical bean or the poison apple from snow white. I think people can be anything, and that we are all just puzzle pieces by ourselves until we find the rest of our puzzle. The rest of our puzzle could be anything.

What is the message?

I'm not totally sure what the message of the poem. It could just be a poem about a puzzle piece he saw, or a million other things. The message could be my perception of it or he could have meant to say something else, or like I said it may just be a poem about a puzzle piece.

Literary devices.

There weren't any literary devices that we talked about in class in this poem. Although I found one that would work. Sound repetition, the way he words the poem he has several of the same sounds come over and over again he uses or, of, one, and, it, he uses one of those words at the start of each sentence and it makes the poem kind of a tongue twister.

How does the literary device enhance the poem

The Literary device (repetition of similar sounds), I think enhances the poem because it makes the poem a tongue twister which makes it fun to read.

Here is the poem:

One picture puzzle piece
Lyin' on the sidewalk,
One picture puzzle piece
Soakin' in the rain.
It might be a button of blue
On the coat of the woman
Who lived in a shoe.
It might be a magical bean,
Or a fold in the red
Velvet robe of a queen.
It might be the one little bite
Of the apple her stepmother
Gave to Snow White.
It might be the veil of a bride
Or a bottle with some evil genie inside.
It might be a small tuft of hair
On the big bouncy belly
Of Bobo the Bear.
It might be a bit of the cloak
Of the Witch of the West
As she melted to smoke.
It might be a shadowy trace
Of a tear that runs down an angel's face.
Nothing has more possibilities
Than one old wet picture puzzle piece.
