- In the year 2012 there were 49,000 bicyclist injuries
- On average, there are 726 bicyclist deaths per year
- Increase in bicyclist injuries between 2001 and 2011: 8.9 percent
- The total cost of bicyclist injury and death is over $4 billion per year
