Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
4 The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Blessed -
happy, fortunate, rewarded,
holding a position of favor,
peace within despite conflict without
Ungodly -
living without God in the picture,
those who life wicked, guilty, sinful lives without the blood of Jesus
live out the 3 broad word pictures for sin
1. step over the line - they actively look for lines....just to step over them
2. miss the mark target - aiming is hindered by sin, site picture does has not applied the blood of Jesus - always miss God's intended target for them
3. the deck of a sailing ship after getting caught in a storm, deck strewn with masts, ropes, sails, rendering the ship helpless in rough seas and the crew entangled in the wreckage - so, those who get entangled in the wreckage of their own bad choices....
Righteous -
those in the proper relationship with God, cleansed by the blood of Jesus,
declared righteous because of their repentance
well balanced, ordered life
The Way -
the road
the pathway
the trail
Exodus - the way out.....

walk - not allowing yourself to go along with the desires, wishes, plans of those who do life without God
stand - not from standing passively along the pathway of the ungodly waiting for trouble to come your way
sit - not from choosing to sit down and stay awhile with those who cause plague like symptoms in the lives of others, who deliberately create pain in others, make people miserable for the fun of it......

delight - desire, want, wish, hope, something one looks forward to doing
thoughts - meditation, what you repeat to yourself

Blessings
Are Real
Experiencing blessing is a state of being
"Is" like....a tree
a tree - solid, firm, established with deep roots
planted - not placed at the whim of the wind or weather, but deliberately placed ....passive voice.....
(Illus. Yielding to God's placement....)
by a stream - source of nourishment, water,
(Illus. placing ourselves daily, day and night, at the water's edge for refreshment and strength)
bears fruit -
at the right time - kairos, in season.....which means it has the wisdom to know that there are times of soil prep, cultivating, planting, growing, harvesting......
not wither - symptom of malnourishment, being cut off from the water supply
statement of persistent strength, not because of anything the tree can do, but because it stays connected to the source of strength....
prospers....does all the seasons of the life cycle well
and produces a lot of fruit.....so much that it is almost too much to carry

Do Not Come to Everyone
Not so the wicked, ungodly...
no substance
no stability, roots
no standing....before God
no lawyer
no case
no hearing
just judgment......
no way to stand against the storms of life
no seat......
no place among the righteous
no place to sit with those who are right with God....
on the outside looking in....
(Ephesians 2:11-13)

in space....no one can hear you scream.....
Why? They wrote their OWN book, made up their own rules......
talk of God with contempt and hatred in their heart......seat of the scornful....

a way known to God
a way familiar to those who follow Him
a way he created, a route, a path, a trail clearly marked and laid out for us in Jesus
The Way of the Ungoldy
leads away from God
leads to destruction
leads to nowhere God is going
leads to a dead end
