The Texas Consititution

  • on March 1 1835 Texans write a consititution and declare independence
  • also Sam Houston is named the commander of the Texas military

The Battle of Gonzalez

  • the battle of Gonzalez was the first sign of the war
  • the Mexicans were sent to Gonzalez to retrieve a cannon
  • the Texans were there to meet and opened fired on the Mexicans forcing them to retreat and one Mexican died in the battle

The Battle of Goliad

  • on October 9 1835 Texans attack Mexicans at Goliad
  • Texans win and capture thousands of dollars worth of food and supplies

The Siege of Bexar

  • on Decenber 11 1835 Texans attack Mexicans at Bexar now called San Antonio and win
  • after the battle many of the Texas men went home because they took most of Texas

The Alamo

  • on March 9 1836 after a 13 day attack Mexicans kill all of the defenders
  • the cruelty of the Mexicans sparks more rebels

The Battle of San Jacinto

  • on April 21 1836
  • decisive battle of the Texas Revolution
  • led by General Sam Houston
  • Mexico's President Santa Anna was captured and surrendered the following day
  • Santa Anna signed a peace treaty that dictated that the Mexican army would leave the region
