SUMMARY (DAY)

• Far in the future, Los Angeles is ruled by a great evil known as The Republic. The most wanted criminal in this society is 15 year old Day, a homeless boy who steals to survive, helps the poor, and gives a hard time to the Republic's war effort against the Colonies through vandalism. Day lives with his friend Tess in the poor Lake sector.He occasionally checks in on his family, who believe he is dead (except John) One day, he finds out that his 10 year old brother, Eden, has been infected with a new type of plague, a disease that is currently wreaking the Republic.

SUMMARY (JUNE)

• Meanwhile, you meet June Iparis, a fifteen-year-old prodigy who got a perfect score on her trial, the test ten-year-olds take to determine what their job will be in the republic. You also meet her older brother metias, a young captain in the military who raised June since their parents died.

(DAY)

• Devastated by the news, Day breaks into Los Angeles central hospital to steal plague medicine for his family. However, the hospital didn’t have the cure he needed and on his way out to escape, he is stop by metias (June’s brother) Day throws a knife into his shoulder and escapes. In his rush to get out, Day leaves a special pendant given by his father.

JUNE

• When June found out about his brothers death, she makes her mission to capture whoever killed him- Day. That is why, using the pendant as a clue, dresses up as a street urchin and goes to the lake sector to get more information and-hopefully- find out more things about “Day”
• During a street fight with keade, June is badly wounded and is saved by two strangers, which she later finds out its Tess and day,

• Following day to his family’s home one night, she finds out that the person she has fell in love with is the same individual that killed her brother. She tells Thomas and they send soldiers to capture him. However, Day tries to fight off the soldiers, and Thomas retaliates by shooting day’s mom in cold blood. John and day are imprisoned and eden is send to an unknown place.

• In prison, June interrogates day about her brothers murder, which he denies ever doing. Confuse by all this, she starts investigating and finds out the republic has been spreading the plague and that day actually got a perfect score on his trial- she wasn’t the only prodigy.

• Day is sentence to death but, June - after finding out metias journals- discovers that the republic is the real dangers (and metias murderers) and conspires agains them using the colonies help -keade.
• Escaping from the colonies, Day’s brother, John, sacrifice himself to give day and June more time to get away.
