WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART

JANUARY 7 1756-DECEMBER 5 1791

CHILDHOOD

  • When he was 5 he performed at the European royals for the queen and king.
  • He is the youngest of 7 children 5 died in infancy
  • Parents were leopard Mozart 1779-1787 and mom was Anna Maria Mozart 1720-1778

TRAVEL

  • He was a child hood prodigy in 1762 at court of prince-elector Maximilian 3
  • He had a long concert tour spanning three and a half years
  • He met Johann Christian Bach
  • His first symphony was made for his father

JOURNEY TO PARIS

  • Returned home from Italy on 13 March 1773
  • He was employed as Court musician by the ruler of Salzburg

VIENNA

  • In January 1781 Mozart’s opera Idomeneo premiered with “considerable success”
  • Mozart was summoned to Vienna where his employer Archbishop Colloredo was celebrating Joseph 2

EARLY YEARS

  • He performed as a pianist in he new career in Vienna
  • on 24 December 1781,[51] and he soon "had established himself as the finest keyboard player in Vienna

MARRIAGE AND CHILDREN

  • After failing to win the hand of Aloysia Weber, who was now married to the actor and artist

1782-87

  • In 1782 and 1783, Mozart became intimately acquainted with the work of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel as a result of the influence of Gottfried van Swieten,

LATER YEARS

  • Toward the end of the decade, Mozart's circumstances worsened. Around 1786 he had ceased to appear frequently in public concerts, and his income shrank.[74] This was a difficult time for musicians in Vienna
