INTRODUCTION

15 year olds need up to 9 hours of sleep

Humans sleep in stages.
The first four stages are slow brain wave sleep. The fifth stage is REM sleep

WHAT IS REM?

Rapid Eye movement. This is the stage in which we dream

Five stages of sleep take around 90mins to complete. On a good night, human should complete 4-5cycles

DANGERS OF SLEEP DEPRIVATION

PUTTING IT INTO PERSPECTIVE

  • Puppies deprived of sleep die within 46 days...:(
  • Cats deprived of REM sleep die within 35 days

  • During this time, became very angry and hallucinogenic;
  • His analytical abilities, memory, perception and motivation were all comprimised
  • Couldn't perform simple maths calculations
  • After 264hrs without sleep, he slept for 14hr40mins

GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP

Have a routine
If you can't sleep, do something boring
Slow your breathing down and try to relax muscles
Turn off the lights
Get into a sleep pattern
Excersice for 30mins a day and focus on stress management

THINGA THAT COMPROMISE SLEEP

  • Caffeine
  • Electronics- they emit a blue light that stimulates your brain
  • Studying and working
