POPOCATEPETL

  • Popocatepetl is one of the tallest mountains in Mexico.
  • Its name comes from the Aztec word for smoking mountain.
  • Popocatepetl has erupted more than 15 times since 1519.

PENA DE BERNAL

  • Pena De Bernal is the tallest freestanding rock.
  • Many scientists still don’t know how old the rock exactly is.
  • The rock was formed by volcanic activity.

TULUM

  • In Tulum there are lot of Mayan ruins.
  • You can see breathtaking sights of Mayan pyramids and temples.
  • There are over one hundred ruins!

GULF OF MEXICO

  • The Gulf of Mexico didn’t have a name at first and was counted as part of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • It has an estimated depth of 4,384 miles deep!
  • Also is about 930 miles wide!

RIO GRANDE RIVER

  • The Rio Grande Rive runs through the U.S. and the boarder of Mexico.
  • It was formed by many rivers and streams joining together.
  • Also it is the 20th largest river in the world.

SIERRA MADRE OCCIDENTAL

  • The Sierra Madre Occidental is one of the largest mountain ranges in Mexico.
  • It is about 1,000km long.
  • The Sierra Madre Occidental is made up by many other little mountain ranges

BAJA PENINSULA

  • The Baja Peninsula is about 747 miles long.
  • It has about 25,000 tourist coming and going each day.
  • Also the fist line of the Baja anthem is translated to “powerful arm” because it looks like the arm of Mexico.

THE SEA OF CORTEZ

  • The Sea of Cortez is also known as the Gulf of California.
  • It is about 700 miles long.
  • The Sea of Cortez used to be unheard of because it didn’t exist years and years ago.

FOUR REASONS I CHOSE MEXICO

  • I chose Mexico because it has a lot of cool features.
  • Also because I wanted to learn more about the different aspects of Mexico.
  • I wanted to learn about a place I didn’t know a lot about already.
  • Lastly, since it is a big country and not to far away!
