• Egypt is located along the nile river in africa
• This allowed the egyptians to have fertile land

MUMMIFICATION

• This was what happened when a pharaoh died
• They prepared him to live in the underworld in the afterlife

PYRAMIDS

• After mummification the corpse was put in a pyramid
• A pyramid is like a big tomb that holds all corpse's belongings for the afterlife
• Pyramids took thousands of years and workers to make ,but they did it

THE GREAT SPHINX

• The sphinx was a statue with a head of a pharaoh and the body of a lion
• Evidence has been found that the sphinx was built for pharaoh Khafre

KING TUTANKHAMUN

• King tut was crowned pharaoh at age 8
• He married his older step sister Ankhesenamun

IMPORTANT GODS : OSIRIS

• Osiris was the lord of the underworld
• Egyptians believe that he judged the dead in the afterlife to see if they lived a good life or not

IMPORTANT GODS : BASTET

• Bastet was the god of love and joy
• Cats were sacred to this god therefore statues of cats were kept in her temple

IMPORTANT GODS : THOTH

• Thoth was the god of learning and writing
• He cairries a Pen and scroll and writes down everything that happens.

THE ROSSETA STONE

• Before this stone was found nobody knew how to read hieroglyphs
• This stone contains writing in 3 languages and translates hieroglyphs

QUEEN HATCHSEPSUT

• Queen hapshetpsut made peace instead of war thats why she is famous
• She also wore pharaoh clothes and even a fake beard.

QUEEN NEFERTITI

• This means a beauitful woman has come
• Her stepson was the famous king Tut who was crowned at age 8

THE GREAT PYRAMID

• This pyramid was the tallest man- made sculpture in the world for over 3,800 yrs
• This pyramid was the tomb of Khufu

PAPYRUS

• Papyrus was a plant that Egyptians used to make paper
• Now they could carry what they wrote around

HIEROGLYPHS

• This was an ancient system of writing egyptians used
• There are over 600 symbols ,Each symbolrepresents a sound

OLD KINGDOM

• During this period many pyramids were built ,some of the first pyramids were built
• Pharaohs were not yet called "pharaohs"

MIDDLE KINGDOM

• The middle kindom contained the 11th to 13th dynasty
• The nile would sometimes flood 19 ft above regular level

NEW KINGDOM

• During this period egypt had a prosperous time and stood at the peak of its power.
• Many dynasties also formed and 11 pharaohs took the name ramses.

SOCIAL STRUCTURE

• This is actually the rank that people who lived in egypt had
• At the top was the pharaoh and then at the bottom were the slaves.
