DEPRESSION

  • Caffeine causes dips and spikes in mood and energy levels
  • This occurs because when doses of caffiene in the body
  • get higher and then begin to fade
  • This syndrome may increase the risk of depression

ANXIETY

  • Anxiety may be temporary or it may be long term
  • Caffeine adds a nervous jittery feeling to the body

HEADACHES

  • They me be temporary or long term
  • To much caffeine overstimulates the nervous system

ADDICTION

  • Caffeine withdrawal is difficult and unpleasant
  • The body usually becomes accustomed to a regular dose of caffeine
  • Decreasing the amount of caffeine consumed can result in
  • dramatic withdrawal symptoms

FAST HEART RATE

  • When consumed in excess caffiene can speed up the heart
  • A long term effect can be damage to the heart due to its
  • inability to function normally
  • When a heart beats faster than normal it tires the body

SPIKE IN BLOOD PRESSURE

  • Caffeine can cause ongoing spikes in blood pressure
  • This May occur even in people with normal blood pressure

INSOMNIA

  • Or lack of sleep
  • Caffeine stimulates the body and mind,
  • making it difficult to calm down to the point where sleep is possible
  • Long-term coffee drinkers have ongoing high levels of caffeine,
  • they are often found wide awake in bed, unable to sleep
