Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is a festival celebrated at the turn of the lunisolar. It will be celebrated this year Monday February 8th.Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner, their are also parades! Small snacks and candies are served such as honeycomb crisps, love letters, and peanut puffs.

Lantern festival

The Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar year in the lunar calendar marking the last day of the lunar New Year. They hang lanterns that symbolize the people letting go of their past selves and getting new ones,[which they will let go of the next year. A traditional food eaten is dumpling balls made out of stick rice called Yuanxiao.

Dragon boat festival

The festival now occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional lunar calendar. The most popular activity of the Dragon Boat Festival is racing dragon boats. Many people eat Zongzi, flour dumplings into the shape of ox horns, and then placed them in bamboo to cook.

Winter solstice

Winter solstice is an astronomical phenomenon marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere it happens between December 21-23. During the holiday people appreciate the beauty and peacefulness of nature. A popular food to eat during the winter solstice is Dumplings made with red beans and rice.

Laba Festival

The festival is Celebrated the eighth day and 12th month of the lunar calendar. Traditionally, the consumption of Laba congee was an important element of the festival. Laba congee is a cream, lamb, various mixed grains, dried red dates, longan, chestnuts, peanuts, water caltrop, walnuts, raisins, melon seeds, and haw jelly.
