THE HUDSON RIVER

Erie Canal is a canal built in 1825 that connects the Great Lakes to the Hudson River. It was made for transporting timber and as a transportation route!

The Hudson River is 315 miles long(505km) from Lake Tear of the Clouds to Hudson Bay.

It was first explored by Henry Hudson in 1609. That's also how it got its name!

Pollution has been a very large problem for the Hudson River since the 1900s. People have tried to stop the pollution to no avail.

West Point (a military school) overlooks the Hudson River.

George Washington made his headquarters next to the Hudson in the American Revolution and disbanded his armies from there

The Hudson River had an important role in the American Revolution considering naval battles. Tapan Zee was one of many fought in those waters.

People would want to settle here because there is a fresh water source, they could use it for transportation, farming, and much more!
