Legislation: Washington passed the first naturalization law of the US,the first copyright law, and a law the established the US capital as the District of Columbia, along the Potomac River. He vetoed a bill that introduced a new plan for dividing seats in the House Of Representatives that would have increased the amount of seats for northern states in 1792. Washington exercised his veto power only one other time during his two terms in office. He also vetoed an act that would have reduced the amount of Calvary units in the US Army in 1797.
