1977 MOSCOW BOMBINGS

CAUSES

The Soviet Union was a collection of various ethnic and religious groups that were more loyal to the people of their region than the Soviet Union. These groups wanted independence to form their own government. The Soviet Union was a communist government and there were shortages in supplies for it's people. The government also terrorized people who did not agree with their communist ideas. These people wanted to break away.

PEOPLE INVOLVED

No group has claimed responsibility for the Moscow bombings, but three members of an Armenian group have been executed for the crime. Some people say that the bombings were actually done by the Russian KGB, a Russian secret police force, to discredit to Soviet dissident movement. The attack was on the Soviet Union.

RESULTS

7 people died and 37 people were injured.

The 1977 Moscow Bombing one of a long string of terrorist attacks throughout history. It also may have inspired other terrorist, and it may have been a small factor that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
