WHAT IS TRISOMY 13?

  • Chromosomal Condition that is associated with metal disabilities
  • and physical abnormalities in many parts of the body

WHY?

  • It usually occurs when there are 3 copies of chromosome 13.
  • Mosaic trisomy occurs when there is an extra 13 in SOME cells
  • Only 5-10% of babies live past their first year.

  • Heart defects
  • Brain or spinal cord abnormalities
  • Extra/loss of fingers or toes
  • Cleft lip/palate
  • Muscular problems
