HISTORY OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS IN 1692
Salem was founded in 1626 by Roger Conant.
At first the settlement was called Naumkeag.
In June of 1692, the city's name was changed to Shalom or Salem.
The meaning of the name Shalom, or Salem, in Hebrew is "City of Peace"
Puritans and Quakers started many of America's first 13 colonies
4.
SALEM VILLAGE VS. SALEM TOWN
In 1692 salem divided into 2 different sections
The village was the main source for food and crops where the less wealthy lived
The town was where the main trade center was and the more wealthy lived
During the salem witch trials, jealousy played a major part in who was accused and;
Who was the accuser

5.
TOWN VS. VILLAGE CONTU.
The only church was in town.. 5+ miles away
so when the villagers wanted a church the town declined this
propsoition.
Therefor causing a huge disagreement which also plays a big factor
in the witch trials later on.
