2ND INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

  • Around 1870 started the 2nd industrial revolution.
  • Their belief in progress was the material growth created by the 2IR.
  • Electricity was a major factor built in the 2IR.
  • Industrial production grew as sales of manufactured goods increased.
  • 2 new classes were formed; the working class and the middle class.

SHOCKING NEWS

  • Many inventions we still use to this day were made in just 40 years such as telephone, clocks, bicycles, electric lights etc.
  • Many classes/ groups of people were formed based on status and belief like the bourgeoisie, proletariat etc.
  • In the 1912 election the socialist group became the biggest single party in Germany.
  • The socialist brought with them unions which were to protect the working force from the government.

SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF 2IR

  • "Wealthy elite" included top 5% of the general population.
  • The upper middle class contained lawyers, doctors, members of CS, managers, etc.
  • The lower middle class contained shop keepers, traders, and prosperous peasants.
  • Beneath this was the white collar workers between LMC and LC they werent well paid and had idelas of MC.
  • Then the working class and they believed women should stay home and had to earn money by helping fam.

MOST INNOVATIVE

  • I believe the most innovative thing would be e railroads.
  • These helped transfer large amount of coal between factories.
  • This made transportation much easier for workers to move large things.
