PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
Natural Gas: CNG
Olivia Chapman & Mallory Sacco 10th block
2.
What is it made of?
Natural Gas is made from methane(hydrogen and carbon), and small amounts of ethane, propane, butane, and pentane.
3.
Natural Gas is a Non-Renewable Resource.
4.
How is it made?
Natural Gas is made from the decaying pre-historic plants and animals.
5.
Is it made in Michigan?
Yes, CNG is made in Michigan but only produced in the lower peninsula.
6.
Can cars run on CNG?
So far there is one car manufactured that can run on Natural Gas and it is a Honda Civic GX.
7.
The price difference:
The price of CNG is much cheaper than regular gas. In some cases, about one third of the price is equivalent to the price of gasoline.
8.
Advantages of CNG:
Reduces carbon monoxide emissions 90-97%.
Reduces carbon dioxide emissions 25%.
Less harmful than coal or oil.
9.
Disadvantages of CNG:
It is a non-renewable resource.
It would be costly to create more plumbing grounds for CNG.
Does not provide as many miles per gallon.
10.
Challenges involving CNG:
It is costly to build plantations.
It would be expensive to create all new cars using Natural Gas, and totally eliminating gasoline.
The Honda Civic GX is more expensive than any other car due to how it is powered.
11.
Effect on the Environment
Natural Gas is cleaner, which would not cause damage like gasoline we currently are using.
12.
Personal Opinion:
Yes, I would buy a car that runs off of CNG because even though the car may be more expensive, in the long run gas is cheaper and it will not to as much damage to the environment as gasoline.
