Fredonian Rebellion

  • In 1826, edwards moves to east tx
  • He made mexicans show land titles
  • If they didnt have them then made them pay a fee.

Fredonian Cont

  • This made Mexicans mad and wrote a letter to the Government.

  • Added taxes to goods entering into TX.
  • Cancelled incompete grants to empresarios

  • John Bradburn was a Colonel in Mexican Army.
  • Colonist accused of stealing and not handing over enslaved people.
  • Arrested two lawyers: WBTravis, Patrick Jack.

  • Small fight broke out, the Texans captured some Bradburn people.
  • Both agreed to turn over, But both did not.
  • Resolutions - declared loyalty to Mexico, not the government.

  • Convention 1833: Drew up constitution.
  • SFA Went to Mexico City, where he got immigration allowed again,
