By Dylan Shotwell, 8th period

Ouranos was birthed by Gaia, his future wife, alone. Eventually he reigned over the universe. One of his sons later rose to overthrow him after he tried to banish him (and others) to deep in the Earth.

Svarog

Slavic god of balance and fire

Svarog

  • Svarog is believed to control the balance of the universe
  • He manages this by staying asleep, always controlling the world in his dream
  • If Svarog wakes up, the world will end terribly

Though myths and legends of Svarog are either too vague or lost, he still has great meaning. He is often associated with fire and metalworking.

Tyr

Norse god of warfare

Tyr

  • Tyr is the Norse god of war, being the bravest of all
  • He sacrificed his hand for Fenrir, the practical dog of war
  • He is not only a god of war, but a god of justice and peace as well

Tyr was the leader of the Norse gods, and was in charge of not only war, but justice. His son, Odin had eventually replaced him in the Norse pantheon.

Loki

Norse god of mischief and cunning

Loki

  • Loki is the Norse god of mischief
  • He often uses his abilities to turn people into animals or other things for his own good
  • He always ends up bringing good to the gods in the process, however.
  • He himself can change form to fool people or for specific situations.

One time, Loki ends up in the hands of the giant, Thiazi, who threatens to kill Loki unless he brings him the goddess Idun. He agrees, but brings her back to Asgard for the gods. Thiazi chases him, but the gods light a fire around their fortress. The flames catch Thiazi and kill him, while Idun and Loki reach the gods safely.
