Revolutionize education

  • The accessibility and affordability of constructive technology and the opportunity to share ideas online means that we are no longer passive receivers of information
  • In the 21st Century students have the tools to be empowered problem solvers and create real products with value
  • Every classroom can be a maker space

Maker Movement & Educational Philosophy

  • The Maker Movement is rooted in the ideas of Piaget's Constructivism - knowledge is experience
  • Papert's constructionism - the foundation for learning is actively constructing something to share
  • It is easier to turn our classrooms into project based learning construction sites in the 21st Century but these are not new ideas - making is fundamental to education

Changes in Education

  • The makers movement challenges educators to design authentic interdisciplinary experiences for students rather than teaching isolated tech skills
  • Students will be empowered to use real-life tools to construct solutions to real-world problems
  • Students are learning by doing
