What

• Andrew Jackson authorized the indian removal act
• Native People weren't wanted for elequent oppisiton
• By 1840 indians had been removed to Indian Territory

Why ?

• aimed at removing the tribes from their land
• presence of gold worsened the conditions making the tribes sign treaties
• This happened because of the white people
• The whites used force and asked the tribes to evacuate immediately
• Jackson forced 300 men to sign a treaty

What Happened?

• Indians went to the Sumpreme Court 
• Indians won trial
• If indians decided to walk to Choctaw they'd be rewarded $10 in gold
• About 300 Choctaws decided the BIA plan was the way to go
