One of the reason that the civilization worked as an important role in the human history is that it is the limitation based on human intelligence of social behaviors. The civilization helps facilitate the occurrence of laws and tells people what is right and what is wrong. It keeps people away from doing evil things.

According to Fox and Robin, the civilization and savage mind caused two types of society, Open Society and Closed Society. The Closed Society is the one that must occur in the history because it's comfortable for the human nature. It refuses those unpredictable changes and influenced by tribal savagery and Closed Mind. However, civilization has the function to facilitate the moral progress and help open people's mind.

The most obvious one in the Lord of the Flies that shows the importance of civilization is the change of Roger. At the beginning, as he wanted to hurt Henry, civilization made him do not do the wrong thing. However, after the civilization was gone, because there's no influence of civilization, he chose to hurt and kill Piggy and Ralph without thinking. The contrast behaviors shows that how important that the influence of civilization is to humans. The civilization which represent all the knowledge that people learnt from school, parents, and the society around them help limit people's behaviors and make the right choices.

All the savage and evil things are caused by the human nature which live deeply in our heart. Because we are humans and none of us are perfect, the most evil things are always in our heart. However, we keep all the civilization that we received in our mind. Civilization help people limit those darkness of human nature and keep everything in order. Do things with our mind, don't just follow our heart. Civilization is the most important thing that consist our society, culture, and life.
