VENEZUELA'S MILITARY

THEIR MAIN ROLE

• The main roles of the National Armed Forces of the Bolivarian
• Republic of Venezuela, are to defend the sovereign national
• territory of Venezuela. Fight against drug trafficking, to provide
• search and rescue capabilities and in case of natural disasters
• protection and aid to the civilian population.

PRESIDENT NICOLAS MADURO

• He is the commander in chief of the national
• armed forces. He was in office from October 13, 2012 to march 5, 2013.
• After Chávez's death was announced on March 5, 2013, Maduro assumed
• the powers and responsibilities of the president.

AIR FORCE

• The Air Force has been active since June 22, 1946
• Their Air Force isn't very big. It contains only 202 air crafts.

• About the Coat of Arms of the Venezuelan Air Force
• it has a German shape derivates from the Military Aviation School of
• Venezuela Shield and present a simple field in Azure (dark blue)
• Gold embroidered, where appears the "Winged Crown of the
• Venezuelan Military Aviation"

• Although Venezuela was neutral for most of the
• war they secretly helped the allies. Inn February
• of 1945 they declared war against the axis power.
• A few months before the end of the conflict.

• During the war there were 4,000 German
• immigrants residing in Venezuela. The allied
• powers were getting afraid that they were
• going to join the axis power. The allied power
• were going to sabotage their plans.

NATIONAL ANTHEM DAY

• This day is celebrated on
• May 25 every year. In Spanish
• its called día del himno nacional.

• anthem. The country's national
• anthem was created in 1881.

SIMON BOLIVAR MEMORIAL DAY

• Their Memorial Day is on December
• 17. It honors simon bolivars death
• on this day in 1830. The flag is flown
• half mast on this day in his honor.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

• They celebrate their independence
• day on July 5th. The signing of
• Venezuelas Declaration of Independence.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

• This marked the birth of the first
• independent nation in South America.
• This is also the Armed Forces Day.
