progress

#AusGovIT CLOUD PROCUREMENT
The following slides show the increased use of cloud computing in Australian Government ICT as measured by contracts published on AusTender (www.tenders.gov.au - Current Contracts searched using the keyword 'cloud').

Buying Cloud ($m)

So far this FY, cloud computing contracts have already been almost 50% more than the previous year and a doubling by the end of the FY is a likely possibility.

Buying Cloud (Contracts)

The number of contracts is increasing but not as fast as the value, suggesting agencies are buying larger, longer contracts. This is possibly a move from exploration of the cloud to full time use.

Categories 2015-16

Almost 50% of the value of cloud contracts published so far this year is in Software as a Service, continuing a trend evident in previous years. I infer that CIOs are increasingly becoming brokers of cloud services to the business rather than seeking to simply use "other people's tin".

policy

The cloud first policy requires agencies to use cloud where it provides these characteristics.

cloud security

  • Cloud Computing Policy
  • Risk Management of Outsourced IT Arrangements
  • ASD Certified Cloud Services
  • Cloud Computing Security for Tenants
  • Cloud Computing Security for Cloud Service Providers
  • Cloud Computing Security Considerations
