SUBMARINE

The prefix "sub-" means "under." The root "marine" means "of or relating to the sea." A submarine is "a ship that can travel independently underwater."

SCUBA

"Scuba" or scuba diving is the act of diving underwater using special equipment for breathing. It is viewed as both a sport and as a means of studying marine life.
