  • He stood up for slavery and fought in the civil war

POLITICAL CAREER

  • In 1850, he joined the Know-Nothing party
  • He wanted to capture President Lincoln
  • When he killed Lincoln, he said "The South is avenged!"

INTERESTING FACTS

  • In 1862, Booth made his New York debut, this time as the lead in Richard lll
  • He wrote a famous quote "Tell Mother...I died for my country."
  • He assassinated President Lincoln
