When Hitler rose to power in Germany,1933 he began to change the way things were run gradually in the government

He attempted to solve Germany's financial problems from World War I by blaming most of the problems on Jewish citizens. That was just the beginning of the anti-jewish legislature.

Hitler and the Nazi party began to create laws that restricted Jewish people and other non-pure Germans

The laws they fabricated were called the Nuremberg laws. These laws helped the Nazi party qualify Judaism a race instead of a religion making it easier to separate "pure" Germans from the Jews.

Posters were put up explaining how all of the Nuremberg laws worked

His strong hatred for the people who were practicing Judaism was shown to the public on April 7, 1933. He created the Law of Restoration of the Professional Civil Service.

This law prevented Jewish citizens from

  • Becoming teachers
  • Becoming police officers
  • Becoming firefighters
  • Becoming anyone who works in the government (provence, town/city, or country)
  • Or becoming anyone who works in provence services

Later on that April a law was created to prevent Jewish students from attending universities. This was setting young Jewish adults up to fail without an education.

More laws were put into place that made it illegal for Jewish people to be doctors for non-Jewish citizens.

One of the final laws in 1933, the Law for the Protection of Hereditary Health restricted Jewish citizens, Jehovah's witnesses, and mentally disabled people from reproducing.

In 1934 laws were passed to prevent Jewish performers from acting to suppress the spread of the Jewish culture.

Laws in1934-1935

  • Specified how a person was/could be Jewish (example if your grandparent was jewish you were Jewish)
  • Made the Nazi party the major political party in the Reichstag (lower house of the parliament)
  • Enabled Jewish citizens from displaying the German flag or colors
  • Denied Jews from marrying Germans

Later on in the year 1936 on January 11th and April 3rd Hitler formed the two laws that restricted Jews from being tax consultants and veterinarians.

These two laws weren’t a major blow to the Jewish race but they cut down job positions for a small percent of the Jewish people.

The 1936 Olympic Games were hosted by Germany which was problematic.

For the Nazis the games gave them a chance to “advertise” their “newly-formed” Reich. The games also forced Hitler, from the world-wide pressure, to minimize the racial harm and actions against the Jewish community.

Hitler tried to ban Jews from the Summer Olympics but an American boycott movement made him reluctantly change his mind

Despite his change of ways Hitler still tried to create behind-the-scenes obstacles for the Jews so that they wouldn’t be able to compete

In retrospect the 1936 Olympics can only be seen as a temporary hold from the Nazi march towards war.

On April 9th, 1937 Hitler and the Mayor of Berlin took it a step further and ordered all public schools to not admit Jewish children.

Jewish children now were not allowed to go to school of any kind unless their parents taught them or unless they had a Jewish tutor.

Slowly but surely Hitler and the Nazi party removed Jewish civilians from everyday life

And they didn't stop at 1937; this was just the beginning...
