  • Over 5,000 soldiers fought
  • Trying to protect this fort
  • But eventually surrendered.

BULL RUN

  • The south wanted there capital to be in Richmond, Virginia.
  • Richmond is very close to Washington, D.C. and the north didn't like it.
  • So they argued until this battle came out of the arguing.
  • The confederacy pushed the union army back with showed that
  • The war will not be easy for the union.

THE BATTLE OF ANTIETAM

  • Said to be one of the bloodiest battles on American soil.
  • Many people died and/or got injured because of this battle.

BATTLE OF SHILOH

  • The union army gained greater control of the Mississippi River
  • Due to the win of this battle.
  • The battle was pretty even until the union
  • Reinforcements arrived.
