  • Polis- a city-state in Ancient Greece.
  • Democracy- citizens share in running a government (voting).
  • Tyrant/tranny- a person who takes power by force and rules with authority

4TH,5TH, AND 6TH WORDS

  • Colony- an area under political of a country.
  • Agora- a space used for markets and meetings.
  • Acropolis- a fortified part of an Ancient Greek city.

7TH,8TH, AND 9TH WORDS

  • Oligarchy- a group of people that have control of a country.
  • Monarchy- a government with a king/queen at the head.
  • Hoplites- Greek soldiers that are citizens.
