An arming sword was a common sword for knights to use in battle. The sword weighed about 2 1/2 pounds and 35 inches long with a five inch handle so you could use it one handed on a horse

A long sword was also a very common weapon used. It was about 45 inches long and was only 2 pounds used with two hands and was very lethal

Morning stars were very lethal weapons used in hand to hand combat. There were two different kinds one was on a chain and was was on the end of a stick but were both very effective

Spears or pikes were strange weapons to use yes you could throw a spear but that's not always what they did they would also use a hedgehog formation and get in groups with spears pointed in all directions and run at their enemies

Bows, cross bows, and arbalests were very important for defense. Knights would mainly use bows the traditional way and most became very skilled with them. Cross bows were also used but not as much because they didn't have as much potential energy to shoot as far but them arbalests were created they were like a cross bow but had so much more power behind them.

Catapults were very important used mainly for breaking down big thick stone walls of castles but were not always that effective because they were made of wood and were usually not that useful and were burned by flaming arrows.
