1. Mainstreaming, Integration, Inclusion

Mainstreaming:  Bringing students With disabilities into general education classrooms, but without additional support

Integration:  Students with disabilities are with general education peers part time.

Often involved in activities different from other students in the class.

Inclusion:  Where all students have a feeling of belonging and acceptance.

General education classes meet the needs of ALL students!

2.  LRE:  Least Restrictive Environment

  Using the classroom that would be attended if the student were not disabled as first placement option

If services and supplementary aids can be implemented in the general education classroom

this is the least restrictive environment

3.  Less and More Methods

Less Lecturing, More Hands On Learning

4. What is the Impact?

Mild Disabilities:  Make Better Gains Than Pull-out Programs and Control Schools

Impact On Severe Disabilities:

No Great Significance Academically,But Great Gains Made Socially.  Less Time Spent Alone!

For Students Without Disabilities:

No academic loss, better social relationships between students in inclusive classrooms

How students demonstrate they've learned something should be as diverse as well
