WHAT TO DRINK

  • Begin your day with 1 glass of plain water.
  • Drink 1 glass of flavored water or herbal tea between meals or snacks.
  • Drink 1 glass of plain water before each meal or snack.
  • Enjoy a cup of bedtime tea before bed.

Plain water aids in the detoxification process. Take a covered class to bed with you, drink it before you get out of bed in the morning.

Water flavored with herbs or fruit tricks your cells into absorbing more water

A soothing cup of tea in the evening assists in signaling the body for rest, and keeps you from nighttime snacking.

FOOD TYPE GUIDELINE

This detox uses the alkaline forming and acid forming foods platform as the base for a whole body cleanse. This diet which is low in sugar, salt, and eliminates processed foods supports the cleanse by creating a more ph neutral environment allowing the cleanse to rid the body of toxins

APPROVED ACID FORMING MEATS

  • Wild caught fish
  • Chicken
  • Lamb
  • Beef
  • Uncured pork
  • Bison
  • Turkey
  • Eggs
Look for organic, free range, or grass fed whenever buying your meats.

While on the detox processed foods are off limits, this includes hot dogs, sausages, pre marinated meats.

When you are marinating meats do not use jarred sauces that contain sugars, malt or flour.

APPROVED ACID FORMING PLANTS

  • Coffee (2 cups max)
  • Whole grains (no flour)
  • Lentils
  • Legumes (peas and beans)
  • Nuts (no peanuts)
  • Seeds
  • Wheat germ
  • Rice
  • Cooked prunes
  • Cooked rhubarb
Whole grains - bulger, rice, farro, millet

Legumes - peas, beans, dried or fresh

Nuts - all nuts except peanuts. Try cashew or almond butter as well as raw or unsalted nuts

Seeds - quinoa, chia, hemp, flax, apricot

Rice - wild, black, jasmine, whole shot grain

APPROVED ALKALINE FORMING FOODS

  • Raw almonds
  • Whole grains
  • Unsweetened plant milk
  • Apples
  • Berries
  • Stone fruits
  • Air popped popcorn
  • Hard squashes
  • Potatoes
  • Seeds
  • Tahini
  • Tomatoes
Whole grains - oats, rice, buckwheat, millet, bulger, or kasha.

Plant milks - almond, rice, cashew, coconut, and hemp.

Stone fruits - cherries, plums, nectarines, and peaches.

Hard squashes - pumpkin, butternut, acorn, and spaghetti.

Seeds - quinoa, chia, flax, hemp, sunflower, and pumpkin (pepita)

Lettuce greens - micro greens, romaine, red leaf, butter, arugula

Pod vegetables - beans, peas, okra

Flower vegetables - cauliflower, broccoli, artichoke, kohlrabi

Dark greens - kale, collard greens, spinach, chard, cilantro and parsley

Herbs - dill, basil, lavender, mint, oregano, chive

Flowering vegetables - tomatoes, eggplant, cucumber, summer squashes

Root vegetables - carrots, beets, parsnips, sun chokes, celeriac

Sea vegetables - dried nori, kombu, wakame, hijiki

Stem vegetables - asparagus, celery, bamboo, cactus

WHAT TO AVOID

  • Alcohol
  • Dairy (butter is ok)
  • Shellfish
  • Grapes and rasins
  • Tropical fruits
  • Sugars
  • Melons
  • Flours
  • Mushrooms
  • Cereal
  • Processed meats
  • Processed foods
Tropical - bananas, mango, papaya

Sugars - honey, maple syrup, malt & malt syrup, brown rice syrup

Processed foods, anything that has an ingredient list needs to be read carefully. If there are more than 5 ingredients or you can't pronounce them put it back on the shelf.

NOTES
Buy organic or natural foods when available.

Use lots of fresh or dried herbs to add flavor and limit salt.
