• Last ditch German counter-offensive against the allies in Europe
• Allies were caught off-guard and almost overwhelmed
• Germans fighting behind American lines using fake American units

Aftermath

• Complete German defeat
• Marks the true start of the end for Germany

• America wanted to take the two airfields because of the proximity to Japan
• Japanese soliders fight to the death (no surrender)

• Extreme casualties on both sides
• US lost 24,000 soliders
• Japan lost 22,000 soliders

• Soviets siege Berlin
• Remaining German forces hopelessly try to defend city

• Hitler kills himself at the end of the battle
• Soviets take city
• Leads to the surrender of Germany

• Allies decide to not invade Japan - Instead they drop the first nuclear bomb on Hiroshima
• Three days later a second nuclear bomb is dropped on Nagasaki
