THREE PLACES TO VISIT IN THE BAHAMAS

ATLANTIS

  • Atlantis Resort is an incredible hotel located on Paradise Island.
  • There are tons of things to do there, such as the Aquaventure Water Park.
  • There at Dolphin Cay you can swim with well-trained dolphins.

FORT CHARLOTTE

  • High on top a hillside overlooking the harbor of Nassau is the British-colonial Fort Charlotte, the largest fort in Nassau.
  • It was constructed in the late 18th century for a battle that never took place.
  • There you will find hidden underground passages, old dungeons, and even very old cannons.

HARBOUR ISLAND

  • It’s known for its long pink sand beaches.
  • Coral reefs surround Harbour Island.
  • The Devil’s Backbone, a coral reef near Harbour Island, is home to stingrays and turtles.

THE ABACO ISLANDS

  • The Abaco Islands are islands and barrier cays in the northern Bahamas.
  • There you can find diving sights such as Sea Park with coral reefs and underwater caves.
  • Turtles, eagle rays, and sharks populate Walker’s Cay National Park.

MOUNT ALVERNIA

  • Mount Alvernia is located on Cat Island.
  • It’s the highest point in the Bahamas at 63 meters above sea level.
  • The mountain shares a name with a school in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

SAN SALVADOR ISLAND

  • San Salvador Island is an Island and district in the Bahamas.
  • A lot of people believe that on Christopher Columbus’ first expedition to the New World, that was the first land that he saw.
  • On October 12, 1492 Christopher Columbus named the island, San Salvador Island.

ANDROS ISLAND

  • Andros Island is the largest of all of Bahamas’ islands.
  • Andros Island has a larger area than all of Bahamas other 700 islands combined.
  • The area of Andros Island is 2,300 square miles.

CAY SAL

  • Cay Sal is a small island in between Florida, Cuba, and the Bahamas.
  • It is no longer inhabited.
  • The Bahamas has an agreement between them and the U.S. Coast Guard to frequently check the island and other islands around it for stranded people who might be there.

FOUR REASONS I CHOSE THE BAHAMAS

  • They have a resort there.
  • It’s a place where you can do tons of interesting things.
  • It’s not in the U.S..
  • I’ve heard people talk about it and wanted to learn more.
