Opium comes from the opium poppy flower's dried latex. It likely originated in Southern Europe. The current leading producer of Opium is Afghanastan, and the US is the biggest user of prescription opioids.

Opium is referred to as "Bog O" "Dope" "Hop" "Midnight Oil" "O.P" and "Tar"

Opium is used most often through an IV drip, or by smoking vapor.

An Opium high makes you feel extremely relaxed. Your sight becomes hazy and it is difficult to judge size and distance. You might also hallucinate.

Long term effects of Opium include the potential for abuse and addiction, leading to death. Memory loss is also possible.

There is speculation that Prince overdosed on Opium a couple weeks back, just a day before he was due to get treatment for his addiction. His death brings into question the freedoms that we should give to those who we know have addictions. If Prince had been hospitalized when people like his family found out about his drug abuse, he may still be alive.
