MAIMONIDES THIRTEEN PRINCIPLES OF FAITH

  • God exists
  • God is one and unique
  • God is incorporeal (not composed of matter)
  • God is eternal
  • Prayer is directed to God alone and nobody else
  • The words of the prophets are true
  • Moses' prophecies are true, and Moses was the greatest of the prophets

THE REST OF THE THIRTEEN PRINCIPLES OF FAITH

  • 8.The Written Torah (first 5 books of the Bible) and Oral Torah (teachings now contained in the Talmud and other writings) were given to Moses
  • 9.There will be no other Torah
  • 10.God knows the thoughts and deeds of men
  • 11.God will reward the good and punish the wicked
  • 12.The Messiah will come
  • 13.The dead will be resurrected

KIPPAHS

  • The Kippah is a cap or hat Jewish people wear to the synagogues on Saturdays(Sabbath).
  • A kippah a brimless cap, usually made of cloth, worn by Jews to fulfill the customary requirement held by orthodox halachic authorities that the head be covered at all times.
  • Men usually wear the Kippahs,woman usually don't.

HANAKUAH

  • Hanukkah is celebrated on different days each year. In last year it started on December 6 and last until December 14.
  • It lasts eight days.The first candle of the menorah is lit at nightfall of the first date.

SYNAGOGUE

  • King Solomon built a magnificent Temple, dedicated to God, in Jerusalem.It consisted of three rooms: an entryway; an oblong room containing the menorah, incensealtar, and table of twelves loaves of bread; and an inner sanctum, called the Holy of Holies, which contained the Ark of the Covenant.
