BEFORE THE GREAT DEPRESSION

- Income was very good, and people were well off.
WHAT LED TO THE GREAT DEPRESSION
- Many believe that the main cause of the Great Depression was the stock market crash in 1929.
- Another cause of the Great Depression was that many banks failed throughout the 1930's.
EVERYDAY LIFE
- Very few people actually worked, the unemployment rate was at an all time high.
- Food was scarce, and not many people had enough food for all three meals.
OUTSIDERS
"Outsiders" are treated the same way that the name sounds. They are excluded for a particular reason, whether it be their physical appearance or their personality.
MENTALLY HANDICAPPED
Many mentally ill in today's society are treated very poorly, and many people see them as a burden.
PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED
Many physically handicapped are treated the same as mentally handicapped people, and many people mistreat them.
THE ELDERLY
A great deal of elderly people are mentally or physically handicapped, so they are also treated as a burden.
