SOUS CHEF

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent needed
  • Many secondary training programs and 2 to 4 year degrees
  • It takes either the education or experience to qualify for the ACF certified Sous Chef Exam

SALARY

  • A rough estimate of a Sous Chef’s salary is between $20,000 to $50,00
  • US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Chefs and Head Cooks make $52,160 in 2018
  • Further education and experience will provide more chance at pay growth

BENEFITS

  • Benefits include Dental, healthcare
  • Some Sous chefs also get a cut of house profits

HOURS

  • A General Manager or Executive Chef usually schedule the hours
  • Is not uncommon to see Sous Chefs helping in the schedule making

  • Being the Executive Chefs right hand.
  • Being there when the Executive cant
  • Leading the Crew in procedures and what to do
