MICROORGANISMS

BY JEREMY AND ANTON

WHAT IS FUNGI

  • What is Fungi? Fungi are living organisms that are distantly related to plants but more closely related to animals but are different from either of those groups. Fungi lack chloroplasts and are heterotrophic organisms.

FUNGI REPRODUCTION

  • Fungi reproduce by budding or producing spores. Fragments can grow new colonies. Mycelial fragmentation occurs when a fungal mycelium separates into pieces with each component growing into a separate.

GOOD AND BAD FUNGI

  • Fungi can be eaten like some mushrooms or foods made from yeast, like bread. Molds from fungi are used to make cheeses. Scientists use fungi to make antibiotics, which doctors sometimes use to treat bacterial infections. Poisonous Mushrooms can grow on people lawns.

WHAT IS BACTERIA

  • What is Bacteria? bacteria is member of a group of unicellular microorganisms which have cell walls but don’t have as many organelles and an organized nucleus, including some which can cause disease.

BACTERIA REPRODUCTION

  • Bacteria reproduction: Bacteria reproduce by binary fission. In this process the bacterium, which is a single cell, divides into two identical daughter cells. Binary fission begins when the DNA of the bacterium divides into two.

GOOD AND BAD BACTERIA

  • Good and bad bacteria: Bacteria have gotten a bad reputation, and for good reason. Bacteria are behind a number of serious diseases including pneumonia, meningitis, strep throat , food poisoning, and a variety of other infections.

WHAT IS PROTIST

  • Protists are a diverse collection of organisms. they are primarily microscopic and unicellular, or made up of a single cell. The cells of protists are highly organized with a nucleus and specialized cellular machinery called organelles. Once they are in the cell they multiply

PROTIST REPRODUCTION

  • Asexual reproduction is the most common among protists. Protists can reproduce asexually through binary fission, one nucleus divides, many nuclei divide, and Budding occurs when a new organism grows from the body of its parent. They can, however, also reproduce by sexual reproduction on a rare occasion.

GOOD AND BAD PROTIST

  • Many protists are harmful to humans, other animals and plants because they cause diseases and crop failures. However, some protists are actually beneficial to other creatures and are used by humans for various purposes.

WHAT IS VIRUS

  • An infective agent that typically consists of a nucleic acid molecule in a protein coat, it is too small to be seen by naked eye. It is able to multiply only within the living cells of a host.

VIRUS REPRODUCTION

  • The virus attaches itself to a specific host cell. The virus injects its material into the host cell. the host cell uses the material to make new viruses. The host cell splits open, releasing the viruses.

GOOD AND BAD VIRUS

  • Good viruses defend gut when bacteria are wiped out. Most Viruses will make you sick. Majority of viruses are bad for you.
